Setting up Claude CMS
New to Claude CMS? Here's everything you need to know to get up and running.
1. Prerequisites
Before installing Claude CMS, make sure you have: a) a web hosting account with PHP 7.4+ and MySQL support, b) a paid Claude account (Pro, Max, or Team) with MCP connector support — unless you're on the Managed plan, and c) a domain name pointing to your hosting. Most cPanel-based hosts like SiteGround, Krystal, or 20i work perfectly.
2. Installation
After purchasing, we'll install Claude CMS on your hosting within 24 hours (usually much faster). This includes: creating your database, uploading the CMS files, configuring your site settings, and generating your unique MCP connector URL. For the Managed plan, we handle everything including the initial site build.
3. Connecting Claude
Once installed, you'll receive an MCP connector URL. Add this to your Claude account under Settings → Connectors in Claude.ai. Once connected, start a new conversation with Claude and it will automatically have access to your site's tools — pages, files, CSS, database, and navigation.
4. Building your site
With the connector active, just tell Claude what you want. Describe your business, share your brand colours, provide your copy — and Claude will create your pages, write your CSS, and set up your navigation. Every change is deployed live the moment Claude makes it.

Common issues
Claude can't connect to my site
Check your subscription is active. The MCP connector authenticates through our licensing API on every request. If your subscription has lapsed, Claude won't be able to access your site. Re-subscribe on the pricing page to reconnect instantly.
Check the connector URL. Make sure the MCP connector URL in your Claude settings matches exactly what was provided during setup. Even a trailing slash can cause issues.
Changes aren't showing on my site
Clear your browser cache. CSS and JavaScript files are cached by your browser. Try a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows, Cmd+Shift+R on Mac) or open an incognito window to see the latest version.
Check for CDN caching. If you're using Cloudflare or another CDN, you may need to purge the cache after making changes.
Stripe checkout isn't working
Check your Stripe keys. Make sure config.stripe.php contains your live Stripe keys (starting with sk_live_ and pk_live_). Test keys will only work with Stripe's test card numbers.
Check the webhook. Stripe needs a webhook endpoint to confirm payments. Ask Claude to check your webhook configuration.
Email/contact form not sending
Check your Gmail App Password. The SMTP configuration in config.mail.php requires a 16-character App Password generated from your Google account (not your regular password). Go to myaccount.google.com/apppasswords to generate one.
Check 2-Step Verification. App Passwords require 2-Step Verification to be enabled on your Google account first.
